I am a software programmer.

We've owned a computer ever since I can remember. My first program was in BASIC on a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Since then I have moved through a series of PCs including one with two 5.25 inch 340KB floppy drives and no hard disk !! I have tinkered with hardware and software on each and every one of them.

My current favourite is web programming in perl, but I've written many programs in other languages too in the past.

I enjoy spending hours thinking up many different methods to solve a problem and finally select one that I happily struggle to implement for the next few months.

Of course, there are many, many times when I feel like throwing the computer out of the window :-). At such times, I leave the comp alone and play the musical keyboard or guitar. I learnt to play them at J B Musicals at Mysore. I particularly enjoy playing songs by Eric Clapton, Bryan Adams and The Eagles among others.

There are hordes of things that I've done at some point of time or the other that are no longer my hobbies - painting, debates, stamp collection, reading novels, etc.
